Monday Funnies: Cicero's Cat

Cicero's Cat was spun-off from the popular Mutt And Jeff series originated by Bud Fisher. Fisher employed assistants to "ghost" the strip. Cicero's Cat was created and produced by his main assistant, Al Smith. The strip started in 1933 as a "topper"; it ran only on Sundays on top of the Mutt And Jeff strip. The artwork and general tone of the strip is similar to Calvin And Hobbes, equal parts humor and charm. It certainly deserves a better fate than to languish in obscurity, so here are 25 examples for you to peruse, culled from 1943 issues of the Mutt And Jeff comic book.

Al Taliaferro's Donald Duck

These Sunday newspaper strips (mostly from the mid-50's) were reprinted in Gold Key's Donald Duck series and were drawn by Al Taliaferro, co-creator (with Ted Osborne) of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The strips were scripted by Bob Karp, who wrote the newspaper feature for 36 years.
